In life, we are sometimes placed in critical situations. Faced with the circumstances in which we are plunged, we realize, according to our own faith, if we have betrayed our principles. In this case, we can thank God on our knees, because if our heart accuses us, God is greater than our heart.
This happened in August 2021, in the western suburbs of Chicago, USA. It was already 30 degrees in the late morning when a woman, who wished to remain anonymous, was taking a walk. Lo and behold, she approached a house in front of which were several items left by tenants, right in the middle of the street, to be picked up by people who might need them. And if no one picks them up, the garbage collectors do it and everything goes to the dump.
Horror! In a small chest of drawers with three drawers, a newborn baby is screaming. The lady opens the drawer and finds herself face to face with a tiny baby, dirty but dressed, wearing a rosary around its neck.
"I tickled him to see if he moved," testifies the woman, who adds, "I am a mother and a grandmother myself. It's a miracle that I got there, and that all the emergency services I called also arrived in time. While waiting for them, I was shaking with nervousness... The whole time I was waiting for them, I was praying that this child would be saved."
Her prayers were answered. Horror turned into a miracle. Doctors who arrived quickly at the scene estimated the baby's age at less than a week. His condition initially caused concern, as the infant's face was covered in vomit. After further inspection, the doctors declared the baby healthy. The newborn was immediately taken to the City of Chicago Children's Hospital.
At the same time, the police officers who opened an investigation, indicated that the child had been extremely lucky to be found before the chest of drawers was taken away by the dumpers. Not to mention that he could have suffocated from the heat, run out of air, been seriously injured.
Was the Rosary the reason the child was protected? It goes without saying that Mary will continue to look after this little orphan who was saved from the objects destined for destruction. Mary will accompany him every day, as the person who put the rosary around the child's neck certainly begged her to do. An act of faith, an act of love that was more than rewarded.
One thing is certain: abortion was ruled out. We chose life. And we were not disappointed. Love triumphed. The newborn was entrusted to Mary, and Mary will never abandon him, until the end of the journey!
