We can confidently confront evil in all its forms. The very characteristic of the Flame of Love is to blind Satan by taking away his evil power.

We could also borrow this phrase from Father Gabriel Róna during his trip to Montreal in 2004:

"The Flame of Love is the love of the Most Holy Trinity intimately united with the maternal love of the Mother of God. This love passes through the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

The Virgin Mary said the following to Elisabeth Kindelmann: "With this Flame full of graces that I give you from my heart, ignite all the hearts... Let this Flame go from heart to heart. This is the miracle becoming the blaze whose dazzling light will blind Satan. This is the fire of love of union which I obtained from the heavenly Father through the merits of the wounds of my Divine Son." (April 13, 1962)

The Movement of Grace

One of the great challenges we have when presenting the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is the assumption it is another of many Marian devotions or about the words of another mystic but The Flame of Love is not about the messenger nor the messages; it is all about grace. In fact, we refer to the Flame of Love as the Movement of Grace built upon the Movement of Mercy – the two great Movements given to the Church at this time for what the world needs most is Mercy and Grace.

This is why the Flame of Love is for everyone and not just those in the apostolate of the Flame of Love because grace is for everyone. The purpose of the Flame of Love is not to compete with other ministries but to strengthen every ministry in the Church, every person in the Church, every family in the Church, by a renewed commitment to a life of grace – to bring every person into such deep intimacy and union with Jesus by the effect of grace that the influence of Satan on our families, communities, country, Church, and world is driven out. In the vocabulary of the Flame of Love, This is called blinding Satan,that is to say, he loses his influence over souls.

In giving the Flame of Love to the Church on April 13, 1962 through Elizabeth Kindelmann, a widowed mother of six and Secular Carmelite in Communist Hungary, Mary said this would be the greatest outpouring of graces since the Word was made flesh. She told us the Flame of Love of her Immaculate Heart is not a what but a who: Jesus himself. It is all about Jesus; it has always been about Jesus; it will always be about Jesus.

The Greatest Miracle

She also said this would be her greatest miracle ever – greater than Fatima or Lourdes because it would not be a miracle in one place with a great sanctuary built in remembrance but the miracle of making every family a sanctuary – a holy place filled with Jesus by the effect of grace and that, when the world sees Jesus fully present in countless lives around the world, it will finally take notice. Jesus, The Flame of Love, vibrantly alive in families by grace is the miracle.

Blinding Satan

The theological examination describes Satan's blindness well:

6.3 “Blinding” Satan

We find a strange phrase in the Spiritual Diary, which appears in many messages talking about the “blinding”of Satan (cf. I/39.59.63.83.109.110; II/33.36.90.102;

III/125.126.130.140.152.198.234.236). This is one of the most evident “consequences” of the outpouring of the Flame of Love. The tone is very symbolic (for further details see: 6.5) and anthropomorphic, but the content becomes clear within the context. Satan (temporarily) loses his power, his strength to lead souls to damnation, and temptations in souls lessen or cease. We are not speaking about exorcism, but about a grace, which frees the soul against the temptations of the Evil One. As an example, from the Bible let us look at the scene from the book of Revelation, when the woman, robed in the Sun, was saved from “the dragon” (cf. Rev. 12,5-6) together with her son by the intervention of God. In this way grace offers protection against evil and renders it powerless against man who is tempted.[50]
