Spiritual Diary - August 31, 1963

I assisted at the evening Holy Mass and stayed a long time with Him. I asked Him many things. The Sister sacristan did not realize I was in the church and she locked the door. God and I were together with my prayer of supplication. I interceded for the souls in Purgatory because my heart burned with a great desire that many be freed from this place of suffering. The Blessed Virgin responded to my great longing.

Mary: "My little one, I reward the great desire and compassion you have for the souls in Purgatory. Up until now, you have recited three Hail Mary's in my honor thereby liberating one soul. Now, to fulfill your burning desire, ten souls will from now on be liberated from this place of suffering."

I could hardly imagine such kindness. Instead of pouring myself out in thanksgiving, only a sigh came from my lips: "Holy Mother of Mercy, thank you for so many graces."
